The coveted Rolling Trophy for the Best Team at the Seventh UAE Inter School Debate organized jointly by the Indian Consulate and the Indian School, Dubai.
The Motion of debate was ‘Faith is Man’s Greatest Weapon ’.
Eleven prominent schools from different Emirates participated, with each sending one member for and against the motion.
At the end of deliberations, Sagarin Elsa Jacob of the host School and Anna Mariam Thomas of the Abu Dhabi Indian School were adjudged best speakers for and against the motion respectively.The second best speakers for and against the motion were Shreyas Palliyani of Our Own English High School Al Ain and Mohamed Rameez of Our Own Indian School Dubai
Honouring the winners, H E Mr. Y. K Sinha Consul General of India in Dubai, commended the efforts of all the participants and extolled on the virtues of debate. The function commenced with Mr. Aziz Akhtar, Principal of the host school welcoming the gathering. Thereafter the Consul for Education Mr. Bilesh Kumar ceremoniously handed the gavel to the moderator of the debate Mrs. Simi Antony. The vote of thanks was proposed by the head girl Sanju Mereena.
The other distinguished invitees were the Principals of the participating schools, senior officers from the GEMS Group, the parents of the participants.The programme ended with the rendering of the Indian national anthem and the guests were treated with high tea arranged at the Consulate.
