National Law School India Debate 2007
Dear all,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Literary and Debating Society at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. We are planning to hold the 6th edition of the National Law School Debate (‘NLS Debate’) on November 1-4, 2007.
Over the last five editions, we’ve had participation from institutions all over South Asia and are very eager to host a competitive and well-attended tournament yet again. It would of course be a tremendous boost for us if institutions from outside
the subcontinent also make the trip to Bangalore. With the 15th All Asians scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in May 2008, our tournament is an ideal mobilising space for debating in South Asia.
Like the last two editions, this year’s competition will adopt a format that is largely similar to the ‘3-on-3’ style used for the All-Asians and AUDC Championships. There will be at least 5 preliminary rounds followed by a break to quarters. Each institution can register 2 teams, with accompanying adjudicators (n=1). Institutions may be allowed to register a third team if the total cap of 40 teams is not reached by October 16, 2007 which is the first registration deadline. We will be providing accommodation to all out-station participants on the NLSIU campus for the duration of the debate.
Please indicate your institution’s interest in participation by sending us an email to debate@nls.ac. in, also informing us of the expected strength of your contingent. The registration fees will be collected at the introductory briefing on November 1, 2007. The Registration fees are as follows:
• Participants not availing of accommodation - INR 300 per individual
• Participants availing of accommodation – INR 1,000 per individual
