Singapore-Brunei Debate Exchange Program












SINGAPORE: Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Masagos Zulkifli, will lead a nine-member team to Brunei Darussalam from 22-24 August.The group will be there to witness an annual debate between Singapore and Bruneian students. Called "Titian Minda", the Malay-language debate involves junior college and polytechnic students.

This is the 12th year the debate is being held.The visitors will also witness two other students' programmes.These are "Bridging Minds", the English version of "Titian Minda", and a discussion forum involving university students.

The three programmes are part of annual exchanges under the Singapore-Brunei Memorandum of Understanding signed in 1990.The MOU promotes bilateral cooperation in broadcasting and fosters close ties between students of the two countries.The programmes are produced jointly by MediaCorp TV12 and Radio Television Brunei.

During his three-day visit, Mr Masagos Zulkifli will also call on Pehin Dato Yahya Bakar who is the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office and the Minister responsible for Broadcasting.Mr Masagos Zulkifli will also meet the Permanent Secretary of Education, Dato Haji Sheikh Adnan Mohamad.

Mr Masagos Zulkifli will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, the Media Development Authority and MediaCorp TV12. - CNA/ir
