Hong Kong Standard Inter-School Debate Competition 2007
Dear all,
English Debating School Team from China recently took part in the Finals of the Hong Kong Standard Inter-School Debate Competition against Diocesan Boys' School at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Over 60 secondary schools took part in the English Section of the competition and after many rounds, the team comprising Emily Zhang, Megan Chen, Chaminade Lam and Mary Jean Chan were able to capture the Championship trophy. They also received a cheque valued at $12,000. Emily Zhang, the team's captain, was also awarded best speaker in the Finals.
The Debate Team also took part in the 3rd Hong Kong Bar Association Inter-School Debate Competition. The team comprising Alice Chan, Lydia Leung, Julia Au, Renata Mak, Megan Chen and Emily Zhang captured the Championship in the Finals held at the Rayson Huang Theatre at Hong Kong University on March 3rd 2007, and received a trophy, certificates, law books and book coupons worth $500.
On Friday 16th March 2007 Lydia Leung and Carrie Ng were part of the ten finalists who competed in the Hong Kong Standard Chartered English Public Speaking Contest 2007 held at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Auditorium. Lydia Leung impressed judges with her oratorical skills and captured the Champion's trophy. Success in all these competitions underscores the importance placed on mastery of English language Chinese school.
